Hello from Raven Knob:

Apologies for the late note. We will try to post more regularly, but cellular service and camp wifi are almost nonexistent.

Our campers had a great bus trip into camp. It was a great bonding exercise.  I did my best to ignore them.
Andy Gay and Diane Raffeale had us perfectly organized for registration. Even so, that took much of yesterday afternoon. The camp staff are serious about making sure those med forms are perfect.  The did an individual check with each kid.

The kids loved the campfire opening ceremony, which involved a strange dinosaur, silly jokes and skits, and scout songs.

Breakfast is at 7:30 so kids were good sports about getting each other up and being ready. The older scouts are learning to become strong leaders.

Our first two meals have been better than normal scout food. I'm not sure what our kids thought of the North Carolina grits.

Raven Knob itself is gorgeous. And the facility is nice set up.  There are quite a few hills and valleys to we get a decent workout just going from site to site.

It has been hot, but not unreasonably so. Perfect weather for our hammock sleepers. We have been reminding the kids to drink lots of water. The bugs haven't been bothering us much at all. Hopefully that keeps. More later.

Best, Mark
